Each year we try to focus on a particular theme and plan talks and meetings related to it. This year we would like to focus on the Beatitudes. Among other things, Richard Rohr’s book  Jesus’ Plan for a New World: The Sermon on the Mount  will be used as a resource. We want to reflect on the Beatitudes for discerning ways leading to the conversion of ourselves, our Church and society.

LET’S RECAP

CTA with SNAP sponsored a day event with author, journalist and film producer Jason Berry on March 24th.  He presented his powerful documentary film, “Vows of Silence”, which is also the title of his book.

The film highlights the life of Father Marcial Maciel through personal, interviews of ex seminarians and priests who were sexually abused by Father Marcial Maciel, while seminarians in his Legionaries of Christ Seminary.

The response from the attendees was heartfelt and moving that CTA sponsored such an important, caring, valuable event.

About Edwina

Edwina will share her struggles trying to be faithful to God’s call as a woman in a male oriented institution.  She is a powerful witness to Catholic social justice, and a beautiful inspiration in living out the beatitudes.

Many are grateful that Edwina, a well known author, international lecturer and lay minister is still coming to Phoenix after having had to cancel a scheduled eight day retreat at the Franciscan Renewal Center. The Phoenix Diocese demanded that Edwina’s talks be taped.  She told the Diocese that they were welcome to attend and hear her speak; however, she is not permitted to authorize audio or visual taping of her talks due to a contractual agreement with her publisher.

We can be assured that Edwina’s talk will be visionary and inspirational. She will share her personal stories and journey of tilling in the many “gardens” of hearts, and where hopelessness and pain reached out to her.

Edwina’s speaking engagement is sponsored by “Friends of Edwina”, ACTS (Arizona Center for Theological Studies) and CTA (Call to Action, Arizona).

Please Note:  There is no audio or video recording allowed.  For questions please call Mary Jo McLaughlin at (602) 957-8949 or MJ Benton at Essentially Books, 480 970-4288.
